Ceramics Special Topic: Raku At the Currier Art Center

During this workshop you will learn the art of Raku firing and how to make ceramic art that is congruent with this exciting method of glazing and firing. For the first class, you will get a brief history of raku, visit the ceramic collection at the Currier Museum (including a piece by Bernard Leach), and then Rachel Montroy will demonstrate various wheel throwing and handbuilding techniques. The next 3 classes will be for you to make several pieces to Raku fire during the final week.
